Elementary Teaching & Learning

The Pike Road Schools Department of Elementary Teaching & Learning exists to support the curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data analysis processes on the Pike Road Elementary and Intermediate campuses. We coordinate the implementation of evidence-based practices in our classrooms designed to equip our students to meet and exceed the expectations provided within the Alabama Courses of Study, navigate interventions necessary to address skill deficits, and accelerate learning when grade-level content and skills are mastered.

As teaching and learning are the most vital elements within any school – our department supports the continuous pedagogical advancement of our educators to provide rigorous and engaging learning environments that foster the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.

Akin to the foundational nature of primary and intermediate learning standards - partnered with Alabama laws - our department's goal is to ensure that our students receive the systematic, explicit instruction necessary to acquire essential content and skills. In tandem, bolstering the continuous practice of instruction through problem solving to solidify our students’ relational understanding is a priority for our team. These learning supports are extended into collaborative experiences where our students have opportunities to navigate extensive practice, create deeper understanding and use their knowledge in new contexts with their peers.
